What is the difference between a wedding announcement and a wedding invitation?
A wedding invitation is what you send to invite potential guests to your wedding. A printed wedding announcement is intended to only announce the event has happened. If someone receives a wedding invitation, whether or not they are able to attend, they should send a gift. However, if someone receives an announcement, they have no obligation to send a present, but can, if they wish. Announcements should never be sent before a wedding to avoid any miscommunications. Ideally they should be mailed out the day after, or, at the very least, within the following week.
